With an upcoming stage production of The Chosen, the drama & creative team at St Catherine’s School reached out to The VAPCO to discuss what would be possible using their school’s incredible projection and lighting system to bring their production to life.
A comprehensive site-survey was done, and we discovered that St Catherine’s stage rig had the capacity for full stage width backdrop projections as well as computerised lighting and controllers already in place! The projection aspect ratio was custom for the school’s particular setup, so we set to work in creating a series of animated sequences and visual backdrops, some requiring absolutely precise timing to coincide with on-stage performances.
The result? Still-images can’t possibly to the project justice. Animated Mars-scapes, star fields, ufos, alien light sources and even their own custom space-invader styled video game were all created and animated by the VFX team at The VAPCO, all combined with an earth-shattering soundscape to bring the entire theatre experience together.
